Mr.Lin Speech in East China Normal University

Invited by East China Normal University, Shanghai Research Centre of Chinese Calligraphy and East China Normal University Institute of Ancient Chinese Book Studies, Mr. Lin Xiao had recently given a speech on 19 March, explaining the influence of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings Collection related to art history research.

Mr. Lin first introduced the fellowship programme of Jinmotang Calligraphy Research Foundation. He then explained the current status of Chinese art history not only from academic and curatorial perspective, but also from the collectors' point of view. He also pointed out it is the best moment to solve some fundamental problems of Chinese art history while authenticity is still a matter of debate. Over centuries, it is common to see the private collectors acquired a large number of artworks, some of which had provided  evidence and made impact on Chinese art research. The new-rising collectors are now aware that learning the right way on how to authenticate an object before acquiring the artworks is also important. Finally, Mr. Lin demostrated how to apply graphology and pictograph on explaining the authenticity of the Jinmotang's collection such as Xu Youzhen, Mi Wanzhong and Wang Hui. Mr. Lin's speech received good comments from the teachers and students on that day.

Mr. Lin also participated in the conference of the reissue of Shufayanjiu書法研究 on 18 March, organised by Shanghai Calligraphy and Paintings Press. The reissue of the new Shufayanjiu has been released on March.
